Health officials confirmed that a five year-old-girl has died of
malaria in Surat. The girl named Saini was one of the seven kids
from the women's remand home who were brought to the civil
hospital in Surat after the kids experienced high fever and
nausea.
SMC officials said that there were six places in the remand home
where mosquitoes were breeding freely.
"We take every care to maintain hygiene in the room, while all
girls are taken care of personally by our staff. Two days back,
few children complained about headache and vomiting after which
they were admitted to new civil hospital. We are investigating
how it happened inside the home," said PG Trivedi,
superintendent of home.
Police said there are 17 children in Nari Sanrakshan Gruh among
whom 7 have malaria. The other children are reported to be
stable and are recovering well.
