Indications
Above 18 year’s Female Vaginal use, Fungicidal, Bacterial,
Trichmonacidal.
Description
Clindamycin has a bacteriostatic effect. Clindamycin interferes
with bacterial protein synthesis, in a similar way as erythromycin
and chloramphenicol, by binding to the 50S subunit of the
bacterial ribosome. This causes antagonism if administered
simultaneously and possible cross-resistance.
Clotrimazole damages the fungal cell wall and alters the
permeability. It also inhibits the activity of intracellular
enzymes, leading to a buildup of toxic concentrations of hydrogen
peroxide within the fungal cell, causing death of the cell.
Systemic absorption is minimal.
Metronidazole is rather lipophilic and is rapidly and widely
distributed after absorption. It is distributed to most body
tissues and fluids, including to bone, abscesses, the CNS, and
seminal fluid. It is less than 20% bound to plasma proteins in
humans.
Side Effects
Local cutaneous effects may include irritation, hypersensitivity,
burning, pruritus, erythema, fissuring, or swelling.
