cardisec/cardisec- ® is a non-DHP member of the group of
drugs known as benzothiazepines, which are a class of calcium
channel blockers, used in the treatment of hypertension, angina
pectoris, and some types of arrhythmia. It is also an
effective preventive medication for migraine. It is a class 3
anti-anginal drug, and a class IV antiarrhythmic. It incites very
minimal reflex sympathetic changes.
USES
cardisec/cardisec- ® is used with or without other medications to
treat high blood pressure (hypertension) and chest pain (angina).
Lowering high blood pressure helps prevent strokes, heart attacks,
and kidney problems. When used regularly, cardisec/cardisec- ® can decrease
the number and severity of episodes of chest pain from angina.
cardisec/cardisec- ® is called a calcium channel blocker. It works to
control blood pressure by relaxing blood vessels so blood can flow
more easily, helping the heart work less hard to pump blood
through your body. This effect on the heart, along with the
relaxation of its blood vessels, may also relieve the symptoms of
angina. cardisec/cardisec- ® may also decrease heart rate.
DOSAGE
Take this medication by mouth with or without food, usually once
daily or as directed by your doctor. Swallow the capsules whole.
Do not crush or chew the capsules. Doing so can destroy the long
action of the drug and may increase side effects.
If you prefer, you may sprinkle the entire contents of a capsule
on a small amount of cool, soft applesauce just before taking.
Swallow the mixture immediately. Do not chew the mixture, and do
not save it for future use.
The dosage is based on your age, medical condition, body size and
response to therapy.
If you are older or have severe liver problems, your dosage may
need to be adjusted.
Use this medication regularly in order to get the most benefit
from it. To help you remember, use it at the same time each day.
It is important to continue taking this medication even if you
feel well. Most people with high blood pressure do not feel sick.
For the treatment of high blood pressure, it may take up to two
weeks before the full benefit of this drug takes effect.

* flushing (feeling of warmth)
* headache
* weakness
* slow heartbeat
* vomiting
* diarrhea
* constipation
* nasal congestion
* cough
STORAGE
Store at room temperature at 68-77 degrees F (20-25 degrees C)
away from light and moisture.
